1) Load bearing wall: 

a) It is structural element that bears building's weight and transfers weight of roof and slabs to the foundation

b) Constructed in brick, concrete, wood and stone

c) construction is easy and reduces overall cost

d) Common in low-rise buildings



2) Curtain wall:


a) Lightweight and do not carry load of the building

b) Acts as weather barrier while allowing natural light to enter

3) Shear wall:


a) Structural wall that resists lateral wind and seismic loads

b) Prevents excessive sway or deformation in the building

c) Made in reinforced concrete, steel or bricks

d) Ensures structural integrity and safety

e) Used in High-rise buildings in seismic zones


4) Retaining wall:


   a) Structural wall which retains soil and prevents erosion on terrains 

  b) Creates usable land on sloped sites and controls water runoff

  c) Made in reinforced concrete, stone and modular blocks

  d) Mitigates hazards of sloped terrain

  e) Used in Terraced landscapes and boundaries
